Basic information about Hummba
So what is Hummba.com?
Hummba.com is a web portal and mobile phone application that allows you to connect with the people around you and find location based information. On this web portal you can download location based Audio Guides from hummba.com to your mobile phone. Find friends, see where they are and share information with them.
What is the difference between Hummba.com and the Hummba Mobile Application?
Hummba.com is a web portal used to find and share information about various points of interests. The Hummba Mobile Application is an application for your mobile phone that allows you to play location based Audio Guides, create Footprints and Breadcrumbs and perform many of the functions of the Hummba.com web portal.
Why would I want to use Hummba.com?
To find interesting information about places, travel the world virtually, go on virtual tours with Footprints and find and interact with Friends all over the world. The choice is yours!
How much is Hummba going to cost me?
Absolutely nothing! Hummba is completely free of charge, all we require is your email address.
How important is my privacy to Hummba.com?
Your privacy is very important for us. As a user of our web portal at www.hummba.com, Hummba.mobi or the mobile application thereof (together the “Site”), you decide, which personal-related data or other information you reveal to us and other people. By visiting our Site, we automatically gain information which allows us to determine how visitors use our Site and which information and offers are of specific interest. If you want to register as a user we need personal information/data, such as your name and your email address from you. We built the Site to make it easy to share information with your friends and people around you. We understand you may not want everyone in the world to have the information you share on the Site; that is why we give you control of your information. Our default privacy settings in your account limit the information displayed in your profile to your networks.
What is a Point of Interest?
A Point of Interest is a geo-tagged point on the map that plays audio information about that location. Points of Interest are attached to Audio Guides, which can then be downloaded to your mobile phone. Once on your phone the Audio Guide will play location based audio information about an area when you are in its vicinity.

Hummba.com (Basic Navigation)
The map for Hummba.com is supplied by Google Earth Maps. In this section we will take you through the main page of Hummba.com and how to operate the different functions on the main page and what each button / function represents.

The Hummba.com accordian
Lets have a closer look at the Hummba.com accordion and controls. Almost all of the controls for Hummba.com are located in this accordion. It is the starting for your adventures around Hummba.com and the world!

The Map
Here are the controls for the map. With these controls you can zoom in and out of the map and scroll across to different countries and regions. You can also change the way you would like to view the map with different map modes.
Below is an example of the different controls that you can use to control the map:

Status, Your Location and Log Out
Would you like to let the Hummba community know how you are feeling and where you are at the present time in the world? Well this is where the status and personal location function comes into effect. With this function you can write a short “status” for yourself and plot where you are in the world.
Below is an example of the status and current location functions:

Status continued
To edit your status simply click on your status, type a short message and click set status.

Setting Current Location
To set your current location, click on your location (the default setting is Nowhere). A small pop-up box will appear that will tell you to click your mouse on the point on the map that you would like to mark as your current location.

We are now going to have a look at the bottom of the Hummba.com main page. As you see there are various functions here that redirect you to important information about Hummba.com.

So that covers the basic functions of Hummba.com. Read further for an in-depth description of how to use each function available on Hummba.
Remember the tabs in the accordion that we covered earlier, now it is time to take a closer look at them.
Browse
Standard Browse
Browse enables the user to search any part of the world for Audio Guides, Public Footprints and Public Breadcrumbs. In Browse you have the option to search for any particular country and city. The search results will be then be displayed in the accordion with the relevant content.

Audio Guides
Audio Guides are a collection of Points of Interest that will give you audio information about a specific location. These guides can then be downloaded to your mobile phone.


Advanced Search
With Advanced Search you can search for particular Audio Guides, Footprints and Breadcrumbs. You have the options to search for a certain description, category, tag, and user.

Photos
Introduction
In the photos tab you are able to view and upload geo-tagged photo albums with Footprints and Breadcrumbs.
Introduction
Footprints allow you to track yourself and add pictures of where you have been. It also allows you to see where your friends have been and their pictures. First find your footprint off your memory card on your phone. Select the footprint and add the pictures that you took. Write a short description of your travels. Then upload the footprint by clicking the “UPLOAD” button.

Controls
Once you have uploaded your Footprint, it will be shown along with the photos you took, in the Footprints tab. Let’s now have a look at the different functions available.

The Footprint route (with photos if they have been included) will be shown on the map. The playback toggle control will pop-up at the top of the map. With this function you can control your Footprint by playing, pausing it, stopping it or fast forwarding it.

Viewing Photos
When viewing a photo of your Footprint, the photo will pop-up in the bottom right corner of the map.

To comment on your own Footprint photos or your friends Footprint photos, click on the COMMENT button above the photo. A drop down will then appear over the photo where you can leave a comment. If you are viewing your own photo, you will also have the option to delete comments off a photo. If one of you photos has a new comment, the comment button will be highlighted range.


Breadcrumbs
Introduction
Breadcrumbs are location based mobile uploaded photos. A breadcrumb will show you the location of where the photo was taken and a mini description about the photo. To create a breadcrumb, you must have the Hummba mobile application installed on your mobile phone.


Editing a Breadcrumb
After you have uploaded a Breadcrumb, you can go back and edit any information about the Breadcrumb. To edit a Breadcrumb, click on the Options button.

Uploading a Video
With Breadcrumbs you are also able to upload video files. Video files up to 200MB can be uploaded.
The following file types are supported: mpg, avi, mov, wmv, wm, mp4, m4v, ogv, 3gp, flv, f4v, mpeg, 3g2, m4u, 3gpp, rv, rm, rmvb
To upload a video, click on the UPLOAD button in the Breadcrumbs tab.

Then select the location of the video on the map. Simply click on the map to plot the video.

Once you have selected the location of your video, you will be asked to enter details about the video. (Please note that videos can only be set to the PUBLIC publicity setting. This means that the entire Hummba community can view your video).
Click on CHANGE VIDEO to browse for a video on your PC or mobile phone.

Once the video has been uploaded you will see that it has a VIDEO PENDING picture. This means that your video is being compiled and depending on its size, will be available to view shortly.

Once the video has been compiled, you will be able to play the video by clicking on the PLAY button.

(Please note: You can also upload photos by using the video method. Click on CHANGE PICTURE to upload a photo instead of a video.)
Friends
Inviting Friends
Friends allows you to search for and add friends to your Profile. You can then trade information and view your friends Footprints, status and see where they are in the world. To search for friends, click on the INVITE button.

After clicking on INVITE, a pop-up will appear where you can type in your friends name and begin searching for them on the Hummba.com community.


Your Friends will then appear in your Friends tab after they have accepted your request.

Friend Requests
If a friend of yours has sent you a Friend it will appear in the Friends accordion. You can then click on their name and either accept their request or deny it.


Friends Profile
After accepting a friend, his profile information will be available for you to view, you can also view all the Footprints that your friend has created.

Friends Privacy Settings
With all of your friends, you have the option to only share certain bits of information with them. To view and change a Friends Privacy Settings, open a Friends profile and click on Options. In a Friends profile you also the options to remove that friends or block them from contacting you.

Groups
Groups are photo forums on Hummba where users can join together and share photos and comments about common interests.
Creating Groups
To create a Group, click on Create in the Groups tab.

Searching for Groups
To search for Groups, click on Search in the Groups tab.

Viewing Groups
In the groups tab, you will be given a summary of the groups that you have joined or created. To view the main page of the group, click on View in the group summary.

Your Profile
Editing your profile
In order to edit your profile, click on your name in the top left-hand corner of the screen next to Welcome Back. You can edit your name, birth date, so what you interests are and write a short description about yourself. You can also change your profile picture. If you wish to delete your profile from Hummba.com, there is an option to do this here.

Email and Privacy Preferences
In Edit profile, click on email and privacy preferences to open up your settings menu. In Email and Privacy Preferences you can manage all of your email, facebook and friends privacy settings.

Inbox
News Feed
News Feed is a live stream of information that shows you what your friends have been up to via notifications. All of these notifications have links to their content.

Messaging
Messaging allows you to communicate with your Friends on Hummba.com

Composing a Message
Click on Compose a Message in Inbox to create a new message.
