About us
Meet the team... Jacques Teichmann is CEO of Tourism Radio International and works from our head office in Barcelona, Spain, where he lives with his wife and two children. Originally from Switzerland, Jacques is a seasoned traveller and businessman and heads up the team located all over the world.
Speaking of well travelled, Mark Allewell is founder and Chief Operating Officer of Tourism Radio and Hummba. Having travelled and worked in tourism for many years, this South African entrepreneur has a reputation for turning good ideas into reality. Since starting Tourism Radio in 2005, Mark has travelled to various countries expanding the station’s reach and recently married in a private ceremony in New Zealand and again, on a beach in Cape Town, South Africa.
Jakub Skopal, also known as “Kuba,” was born in Prague in the Czech Republic. He got his first computer at the age of ten and didn’t get up from it until the age of 18 when he discovered the other finer things in life like friends, beer, classical music, nature, swimming and handsome men. He attended Charles University before pursuing his career in London and Prague. He’s recently moved to Barcelona to enjoy the sea and Spanish way of life.
Tim Long has grown up all over Southern Africa but settled in Cape Town where he completed his masters degree in electrical engineering. He’s been with Tourism Radio since he graduated and has been involved in virtually all software projects since then. He’s a keen badminton player and enjoys reading speculative historical fiction.
Gary de Villiers has been with Tourism Radio since 2007 in the technical division as a hardware developer but has since then expanded his portfolio to include the software side of things too. Gary has also been instrumental in not only fixing what’s broken but developing processes and procedures to make sure that everything runs smoothly. When he’s not working with electronics, he’s riding his Suzuki Burgman 650 scooter and playing the pipe-organ.
